What a Difference a Year Makes – 2016 in Review

November 28, 2016 Corporate Culture, Trends

The year isn’t quite over and yet, I already find myself reflecting on the success of 2016. ABS has experienced so many great milestones this year and I’m so proud of them that I just can’t wait until the New Year to share some of greatest accomplishments of 2016.

First and foremost, our Structured Cabling Division has absolutely blown me away with the amount of work that they have accomplished this year. They have worked tirelessly and around the clock to meet demand, provide important outcomes and delight the clients. As a matter of fact, our overall structured cabling business has doubled this year which has allowed me to create additional jobs in all three offices across the state just to keep up! Knowing that the ABS Structured Cabling team has been continuously praised by clients from up and down the east coast for their workmanship despite their workload is certainly an accomplishment I could not be more proud of.

Our cabling team isn’t the only area we are growing in. As we close out the year, our employee headcount has actually increased by 15%.  Only three years ago, we had merely 88 employees so the fact that in one year we have grown to 135 employees certainly gives me pause.

We aren’t just expanding when it comes to headcount and the bottom line. We are also on the move geographically speaking! Not only did we expand into West Virginia, the Richmond Office has been packed to the gills with Engineers, Management, Project Management and Sales. I have been on the hunt for over 6 months for a unique office space, complete with exposed brick and a brewery within walking distance (because we really do live up to the work hard-play hard mentality.) The Richmond office space needed the same buzz to match the pace of the momentum behind the Richmond team. Fortunately, the long search was not in vain as we will be hosting an Open House in January to show off the new space in downtown Richmond.

However, as I have mentioned many times before, ABS doesn’t wish to grow for the sake of growing. We want to continue growing so that we can better serve our clients. In 2016 we noticed there was something missing that we could help with – staffing services. We have some of the best and brightest on the payroll at ABS and we know finding the right person to fill a seat, especially in the IT industry, can be time consuming and difficult. Thus, ABS Staffing was born. Whether our clients are experiencing turnover or they just need an extra set of hands for a few weeks, we decided we could help with that. While we have already placed countless individuals, I look forward to helping more of our clients with this need in the years ahead.

It’s crazy to think that we have accomplished so many great things across the board at ABS in 2016 and yet we still have an entire month left in the year! I’m looking forward to celebrating these accomplishments and the many others as we close out the year and move towards an even bigger and brighter 2017 for our clients, communities, employees and ABS!
